Broomhill First School

Broomhill First school in Northumberland

25th November 2014

Ivor Goodsite received a warm welcome this week during a visit to Broomhill First school in Northumberland. Members of the Partner team went along with Ivor to help deliver an assembly designed to inform the children about staying safe on and around building sites.

The presentation helped to deliver an important message. The school which is based in North Broomhill is within walking distance of Partners’ site with many of the pupils living nearby.

The children got to meet Ivor and learn all about the PPE he wears and why. All the pupils made a promise to stay away from construction sites at all times, which Ivor was very pleased to hear.

Partner Construction contracts manager, Graeme Walton, said “Our work with Ivor Goodsite and the Considerate Constructors scheme forms a very important part of our community engagement strategy.

The safety of all who may be affected by the construction work we undertake is paramount.

Children of this age are very receptive and keen to learn which makes the visits a pleasure. The development itself is very near to some of the homes that these children live in, so it is important that these children are made aware of the dangers on the site and know how to keep themselves safe.”
