Construction group visit primary school for safety awareness day

St Mary’s RC School, Carmarthenshire

Construction company Morganstone visited pupils at St Mary’s RC School for a day of safety awareness.

The company, formed in 2008, engaged with the primary school by carrying out a site safety presentation with the children to teach them about the dangers of a construction site.

At the end of each presentation the children each designed a poster highlighting the construction site hazards they have learnt about and the winning posters are displayed on our sites.

“We feel that it is very important to engage with the children in order to make them aware of the dangers of playing on construction sites,” said Peter Rees, Morganstone’s Contracts Manager.

“We do this by showing a DVD, asking questions and generally making it a fun experience for the children to draw some posters on what they have learned today on safety. These posters will be blown up and displayed on the hording of the site.”

The presentation proved to be a huge success with all of the children enthusiastically participating in the events. The company mascot Ivor Goodsite was also popular as the children were eager to be photographed with him.

Peter added: “The school and head teacher were very appreciative of our efforts to get the safety message across.”
