Ivor and Honor Goodsite join forces with Knight Group to teach about Site Safety.
9th November 2017
Knight Group joined forces with Countryside Partnerships, Erith Construction and Ivor and Honor Goodsite, on November 9th 2017 at Alma School, Enfield, to promote health and safety on construction sites. As part of a regeneration project in Enfield, the first block of flats have been demolished and they are now starting the new build. Knight Group felt it was important for the children to understand what is going on near their school and homes and how to stay safe at all times with all of the work that is going on around them.
Stuart Willsmer (Knight Group – Construction Associate Director) presented a health and safety assembly, along with Ivor and Honor Goodsite. The children learnt about the importance of PPE, different machinery and the hazards and dangers on construction sites, as well as the dangers of accessing a site without permission and supervision. The children got very involved, asking many questions and showing lots of enthusiasm throughout.
Each class was then taken outside and given PPE (a hard hat and high visibility jacket), where they got to personally meet Ivor and Honor Goodsite and have a sit in the Knight Group digger! Kevin Stannard (Knight Group – Contract Manager) ensured that all 480 children had a go at sitting in the digger and beeping the horn. From Nursery school all the way to year 6, everyone got involved and it proved to be a great success.
Enfield Council also visited during the workshop to show their support with promoting health and safety on construction sites and a professional photographer came to capture the day. Pictures of the day can be seen below.
A big thank you to everyone involved!
