Ivor in Wales
30th November 2012
Cowlin Construction are currently working in partnership with Cardiff Council to construct a new Welsh language Primary school in Cardiff. The new school is called Ysgol Treganna and will consolidate two existing schools, Ysgol Gymraeg Treganna and Tan-yr-Eos.
In aid of the project, Cowlin joined Cardiff Council to host morning assemblies in both Ysgol Gymraeg Treganna and Tan-yr-Eos with the assistance of Ivor Goodsite.
Children were shown Ivor’s presentation in Welsh, delivered by Cowlin’s site manager, Alun Williams, who was assisted by the construction manager, Gary Owens, along with the Cardiff Council Clerk of Works, Geraint Evans who admirably undertook the role of Ivor Goodsite.
The assemblies were a resounding success and enjoyed by pupils of both schools who fully participated with some very interesting questions. Feedback from Cardiff Council and the Head Teacher and staff has been very positive as a result.
Cowlin have also instigated a poster competition with children being encouraged to create a masterpiece on either the dangers on site; PPE; or Ivor Goodsite.
It is hoped that the finished posters will be judged before Christmas, with Cowlin attending further assemblies in the New Year to present the winners with book tokens. Posters will then be prominently displayed on the site hoarding.
In conclusion the Ivor Goodsite assemblies were great success enjoyed wholly by children, staff and the Site Management equally.
