Read Construction invited Ivor Goodsite to Llandudno Junction Area School

24 November 2015

Safety Mascot Ivor Goodsite visited local primary school children last week to teach them about being safe around construction sites.

Pupils of Ysgol Maelgwn and Ysgol Nant y Coed met the Considerate Constructors Scheme industry mascot, along with members of the Read Construction team.

They were taught about the dangers of building sites and how to stay safe during the construction of their new school.

The talk came as part of the Community Benefits programme being delivered by Read during the construction of the new £11million dual-stream primary school in Llandudno Junction.

“Involving the community in the project is important to us”, said Matthew Nicholas, Site Manager. “Talking to the schools with Ivor was a great way for the children to get an understanding of the project and allow them to ask any questions, whilst also teaching them vital health and safety rules and the importance of not going onto building sites.”

Alongside the visits from Ivor, Read are running a Safety Poster competition for the Schools. The winner will receive two cinema tickets and have their poster displayed around the construction site.
