Safety talk – East Stanley Primary School

East Stanley Primary School

9 June 2010

Ivor and Mansell Construction Services Ltd visited East Stanley Primary School to deliver a health and safety presentation.

Following a brief introduction, the Mansell Construction team explained that as they were working very close to the school they wanted to talk to the children about being safe as well as the reasons why they should never go on building sites.

They told the children that another friend was there to join them but he was really shy and they needed some help to get him out. After a few rounds of ‘Ivor’ he appeared, much to the delight of the children.

The health and safety presentation was very interactive and Ivor Goodsite selected people to answer questions, whilst two children got the chance to dress up in PPE.

After watching the HSE video ‘Game Over’, the Mansell Construction team left the children with a poster competition and will be going back in 3 weeks to judge it.  The winner from each year group will receive an Ivor Goodsite funpack and there will be an overall winner who will not only receive a funpack but also have their poster made into a sign to be displayed on the site hoardings.

The event was a huge success, the children loved Ivor who really helped to maintain their interest.
