Site visit for St Cuthbert’s Primary
Parkfield Road, Stockton
5th October 2012
Partner Construction organised a site visit for children from St. Cuthbert’s Primary School to learn about site health and safety.
Ivor Goodsite and the pupils donned their hard hats and hi visibility vests and were given a lesson in house building at their latest development of 19 affordable homes on Parkfield Road ,Stockton of which Partner Construction are the preferred partnering contractor with Vela Group.
A group of 30 year 1 pupils aged 5 and 6 from the school were greeted by members of the Partner team and Ivor, and after a talk about site safety they were given a chance to examine some of the materials and machinery used in modern construction.
Terry Harrison, Construction Director for Partner, comments: “We were delighted to be able to invite students from St. Cuthbert’s Primary School to Parkfield to see a construction site in action. We hope that they took away an understanding of what is involved to build houses on a grand scale.
“Furthermore, it’s really important for young people to understand that safety on a building site is paramount and that they are not adventure playgrounds. The pupils were extremely well behaved and asked lots of sensible questions.”
Mrs. J. Douglass, Head Teacher at St. Cuthbert’s Primary School comments: “The pupils really enjoyed their trip to Parkfield; they especially enjoyed meeting Ivor Goodsite and getting their hands dirty. It was a terrific opportunity for them to see how a real construction site works and the different skills required to build a home. It was brilliant to have this opportunity and to been made so welcome.”
