Time capsule burial at the Bridges

The Bridges, Sunderland

20th February 2012

Ivor Goodsite went along to an event held by Morgan Sindall plc at the Bridges in Sunderland, where a group of pupils from the local Hudson Road Primary School helped bury a time capsule to commemorate the £15million Primark expansion at the Bridges. Also attending the event was the Mayor of the City of Sunderland Councillor, Norma Wright, and the Mayoress of Sunderland Councillor, Valerie Sibley. The time capsule contained items representing pupils from a year 4 class and the North East as a whole in 2012, such as a letter to the future, artwork and drawings, and each class member was asked to include a list of their favourite things.

Construction is now underway to extend the Bridges, which will deliver a three-storey, 60,000 sq. ft. anchor store for Primark, boosting the high street offer in Sunderland.
