Tour of the Olympic Park

Olympic Park, London

2nd August 2011

Ivor Goodsite made a return visit to the Olympic Park to see the progress of this amazing project and to ensure everyone on site was working considerately. CLM Logistics and Security Team were proud to welcome Ivor and show him what’s changed since the last time he visited.

Ivor kicked off his visit with a 6.30am start at South Plaza and Carpenters Road entrances. Unfortunately for Ivor, as he tried to make his way through security he got stuck in the turnstiles, but after a helpful shove from security staff, he went on a whistle stop tour of the Olympic Park and venues. Now most VIPs are content with a bus tour, but not Ivor. He insisted to be personally showed around the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Velodrome, and the Basketball and Handball Arenas. Getting into the Olympic spirit, Ivor even tried his hand at impersonating runner Usain Bolt!

Though Ivor was keen to see how the construction was progressing, he had a project too. During the Olympic Park tour, Ivor Goodsite was asked to give Considerate Constructors Scheme Operatives’ Handouts to all staff and site operatives that he met. These Operatives’ Handout cards explain the eight sections of the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice which all sites registered with the Scheme must adhere to. Included in this Code is a section called Safety, and this is especially important to Ivor as he visits many schools throughout the UK to teach children about the dangers of playing on building sites.

Though a lot of the construction has now finished, Ivor understands there is still plenty of work to do so it’s really important that everyone working on site knows how to work considerately and maintain the high standards that he has seen when visiting.
