Why’s Ivor wearing that?

Southmere Primary School, Bradford

7th September 2011

Caddick Construction are working in Southmere Primary School, Bradford, to build a two storey extension.

On 7th September, the pupils had their first day back at school to start the new year. So that pupils understood the dangers of a construction site, especially one in their school, Caddick Construction gave a presentation explaining how to stay safe. The presentation began by explaining what they are building so the pupils knew why the construction work was taking place. The children were then warned about the dangers of playing near a building site which was then reinforced by watching a video.

After the video, Caddick Construction then introduced Ivor Goodsite to join them on stage and they played a game where the children were asked to guess why Ivor wore PPE. The presentation was ended with Caddick Construction asking each pupil to design a poster on what they have learnt and the best entries will be displayed on the site’s hoarding (which backs on the playground) and the designers will also win a book voucher each.
