Ivor’s been clocking up the mileage!
Industry mascot, Ivor Goodsite, carried out a total of 188 visits across the UK from the months of January to August 2011.
Many of his visits over the last eight months were to schools, where Ivor has helped a number of construction companies give presentations to children on the dangers of playing on construction sites and demonstrating the safety equipment site operatives have to wear at work. He has often found himself on numerous judging panels for poster competitions with many winning entries framed on nearby site hoardings.
When Ivor’s not in school educating children on safety in construction, he can often be found helping guide children around sites where they can see construction in action. Recent highlights include visiting a site in Dartford, Kent, where children from a local school were asked to decorate the hoarding and visiting a town centre in Whitby with children to see the construction of a new housing development.
Ivor can also be involved in many other activities such as watching a time capsule burial in Croydon with the local Mayor or visiting children who are in the Eyes, Ears, Nose and Throat (EENT) Department of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, who would watch construction activity at a site opposite them from their windows.
Very often, when Ivor makes his visits, he brings along an Ivor fun pack for the children to remind them of the day which includes a balloon, mask and popper pen among others items. Ivor branded children’s PPE is also now available to purchase when you hire an Ivor Goodsite costume. Please see the section ‘Grownups’ on this website for more information.
